The top sales

Well... I thought I could show off the highest number for this month at work.
I am definately not the number hunter, but when I closed last deal, I've realized my number would be one of the top!
It would definatelly feel good to be at 1st place especially at the end of the year :)

Well well... Naomi naomi!
Now I see that other consultant has just got beyond my number!
hahaahaa!
This is sooooo me.

Well, I am still very happy that I can see people getting jobs!
Anyone gonna get me job???

OH=====! Today, my brother Welensky called me from U.S.!!!!
It was really nice to catch up with him!!!
Gosh! It's been sooooooo long since we studied at same campus in Colorado!
Soooo much to share!!!! Absolute good time!!!

ちなみに、大きいからって甘いとも限らない。
人間もそう。
見た目じゃ、わからない。

Cost for an infidelity

I am not from divorced family, nor my father never allows himself into the way goes infidelity.
He is such a good father, and he never wanted to do anything to disappoint kids.

Lately, Tigar Woods scandal keeps catching my eyes.
Although I am not his fan,I was surprised that I was bit shocked and disappointed about what he had done.
Too bad that he was one of those guy....who can't imagine what would happen.

Surely, things would make a person feel so much better, easy and fun when there is no responsibility, strings, and obligation.
But why people can't picture what they gonna have to trade in?

Then, I happened to watch a movie called "corporate affairs" last night.
It was certainly not a good idea to watch it...
That fired me up more on topic of infidelity.

The Ted asked for forgiveness to Cassie at the end of the movie...
In the movie, they got back together...
But in real, how can she trust him as before???
I am sure she will try, I would try too...but it will never be the same as before.
He has to feel guilty all the time...
It's really sad and unhealthy to keep relationship like that...

They should have learned it when they were younger; how things can hurt other people very much...
Luckily, I went through lessons to experience the sharp stab of pain when I was a lot younger.

So I don't wanna get hurt.
And I don't wanna hurt others.

I hope people have rational mind to respect and love others.
If you can't respect others, it's not others, but it's your problem.

Festive season

Last past weekends were rushed for Christmas shopping, writing cards, wrapping gifts...

This weekend, I had to work a bit because Singapore has announced that Singapore economy is back to the point right before the economy crisis.
Though, I don't see many people car ring too many shopping bags, but still I can see people l lined up for Luis Vuitton and other major extravagance brands.

My job as in recruitment business is easily affected by economy.
Hiring had been canceled since the crisis, then from Aug, some companies have started to seek for well experienced available people in job hunting market.
Those firms had this fantasy expectation that they can hire well experienced person for less salary package than before.
Though they've tried to hire, the low salary package absolutely didn't lure people, and it means we couldn't close deals.

Now, it's getting the other way around.
They are really hiring, but we can't find people.
Firms wouldn't lower down the requirements, as they still think there are many available people in the market.
It's the end of year, Chinese new year is in Feb., many people are expecting for bonus, wanna wait for few more months, or waiting for so much better offer.
So, still giving us hard time... :(

Lately,Japanese retail stores and food business embark on Singapore market.
New business = Hiring = Naomi busy
I prefer helping those new pioneer companies than one just have long history.
It's fun when I can feel that I am part of their project to be part of their success and dream :)

This Saturday afternoon, I happened to be at one of shopping mall, looking at kids skating on the seasonal temporary ice skate rink.
It's fake kind of skate rink, but still they were having fun; fall down, pushing, crying, holding hands, skating, smiling... cute cute.
Then, fake snow got them more excited :)
It was really fun looking at them.

Came home, let my body spread on living room sofa, listening Carmen McRae,
Carmen McRae on You Tube
stare leaves out of the window vacantly... till it gets dark...
Practiced my ukulele... Then, went to night market with my good Thai friend.

I've been there before but it wasn't night time, so there was no night market.
Market was bit disappointing... as I was looking for something like the one in Chiang mai, Thailand or Luang Prabang, Laos... well... Singapore singapore, more of junk plastic stuff :(
Still I enjoyed to hunt nice things and found a bell! :D

At the place, you can see airplanes take off so close, it must be fun to sit there at bar in the Saturday afternoon, seeing it take off next time.
I should come with my friend who is an airplane nerd :)

The day closed with the fascinating acrobatic show Corteo by Cirque Du Soleil.

Thanks Giving

Hi, all!
Having Turkey with your folks???

Asian countries don't have this Thanks Giving Day, but Singapore is having holiday today, so called "Hari Raya".
It's Islamic holiday, and the celebration for their haji.
Family getting together and eat big dishes.

Gathering, talking, having good time with family is always nice.
I hope you are spending some good time with your folks.

Especially, Ivan!
This day is more special when we know that it's also your Birthday!
Happy Birthday to you!!!!

Apple bread cake

I am baking apple bread cake now.
What I like baking is the smell!!!
It's absolutely happy smell to me!

Tomorrow, I will bring the cake to the newly married couple's.
They knew less than one year before getting married!
Well... things happens suddenly for sure!

I will try to take picture of the cake later...
It doesn't look great but smells very nice!!!

P.S. Another giving baby girl birth today!
Still many of my close Friends are pregnant!
2009 is the baby and pregnant year for sure!!!

Opinion

I think it's hard to find right person and right timing to say opinions.
言い方にもよるのかもしれないけれど。。。

今日はね、会社で一番可愛い子とお話してたの。
私、可愛い女の子って好きだから。(笑)

彼女は花は好きじゃないって言うの。
花は死んじゃうからって。
造花のほうが好きって。

彼女のお家の夕ご飯は毎日出前(Catering)なんだって。
日本の出前のイメージではなく、月決めされた給食の夕ご飯版みたい。
ご両親が共働きらしいけれど、それでもね。。。

なんだかショックだった。。。
可愛くて、新人なのに仕事もできるのに、、、
こんな感性になってしまうような環境だったんだな。。。って。

日本人で花が好きじゃないなんて言う人、聞いたことない。
短い命でも大切にしたい、できることをしてあげられる責任感がある。

食べ物は人間を創り上げる一番大事なものなのに。。。
そんなことお構いなしみたい。
それよりも、味がイマイチなのよね。。。って言うの。

私が母であれば、家族が口にするもの、選びたい。
そして、できるだけ手料理にしたい。
もちろん、毎日凝ったものなんてできないと思うけれど、
決してケータリングなんてしない!

私は台所での家族の想い出がいっぱい。
ご飯は食べるだけじゃなくって、一緒に作ったりすることもとっても大事だと思う。

やっぱり、シンガポールで豊かな感性は育たないんだな。。。と再度実感。
ここにきて良かったのは、自分の望むもの、望まないものが明確になったこと。

そんないろんな想いを口にするのは、
相手とタイミングを選びます。。。

今、私の部屋にはシクラメンが咲いています。
冬、クリスマスの時期にたくさん店頭に並びますね。
シンガポールは年じゅう夏なので、これを見かけたとき、珍しくて買ってしまいました。

中学生の頃、環境整備委員で教室に飾って大切に育てていたシクラメンの花だけ全部切られてしまっていたことがあります。
あの時のショックは、自分でも信じられないくらいの衝撃でした。
生きているものをあっさり切り裂くことのできる人がこの世にいるんだ、、、と。

今年は、妊娠ブームです。
事あるごとに、命の大切さを認識させられます。
私は、妊婦ではないけれど、よく妊婦に間違われます!!
子供はいないけれど、命を授かれるのであれば、感性豊かな子に育つようにしたいなぁ。。。と心の底から今日は思いました。

Something about Thailand and Niigata, Japan

I am happy that I have some good regular readers from Thailand and Niigata, Japan for my blog:)

This Saturday, I was invited for the soccer game, Albirex Niigata VS TTM Samut Sakhon (Thailand).
It was to decide the 3rd place in Singapore league.

I am sure not many people knew that Albirex have a team in Singapore!
It is supposed to be farm team for Albirex in Japan, but not many players have been to transferred to the team in Japan unfortunately...

Anyway, for the game on Saturday, since I am from Niigata, I sure brought orange fan to cheer them up!!
I was sitting in yellow Thailand cheering party side(because it was close to the goal which Albirex could attack), where their drum was booming very loud.

In the 1st half, TTM Samut Sakhon got the first goal.
I admit that it was beautiful job that how they got it!
The ball was completely under their control.
It was obvious that Albirex had so much less chance to kick the ball...

My friends and I decided to leave after the 1st half.
It was that hard to stay there to see the fact Albirex was having difficulties.

Well, just checked the game result and now I know the game was over with 1:1!!!
And got into PK, TTM got 1 goal and the game ended with their victory.
It was very obvious that they had more passion for winning and I am glad they could achieve it!!

Holiday season!????

I believe most of my friends are still enjoying Autumn.
Halloween was one of major event when I was college student.
This year, I enjoyed some of Halloween riddles.
I will share few here with you!

The main street in downtown Singapore is already ready for Christmas!
Every year hey spend sooo much money on decorating with different illumination.

It's too early!!! It's not even cold yet! (....well ever gets cold here???)
Oh, well it made me wanting to decorate little something of winter :)

My Bright Kitchen!




First thing I complained when I moved to this apartment was dark kitchen.
It didn't have light over the sink and cooking counter.
Finally, I was lucky enough to have an engineer to put the light!!!
It's very nice to have light!!! BRIGHT!!! I can see well!!!!
The bonus was the engineer was handsome nice guy ;P

Recipe - Zucchini & Bell pepper

When you live in Singapore, you miss simple flavored vegetable.
Here is another demanded recipe!

Chicken wings, salt and pepper = stir-fry with olive oil till the skin gets golden.
Take out the chicken, and put
Chopped Zucchini & Bell pepper (red)
couple of whole garlic

Put everything above into pot with some hot water.
salt & whole black pepper and bay leave, (if you think it's still thin taste add half cube of vegetable stock)

Cover with lid, 30-40min with low heat.

Wala! Von appetite!

Recipe - Cabbage

When you have Cabbage, you can do a lot with it.
One of my favorite dish is this; because it's easy and tasty :)

Use half of whole cabbage; cut in to four.
Put it in Donabe(ware pot) or Dutch oven.
Place slice of Bacon between cabbage and cabbage.
Sprinkle some salt.
1/4 cup of Japanese sake.
Covered with lid, 60 min with very low heat.

No magic, but believe me it tastes good!

Sixth Sense??

あのね。
なんだか最近偶然のようで必然だったのかな?って思わせるようなことがよくあるの。

自分は感情とタイミングのまま動いているだけなのに、
相手にとってはそれがすっごくタイミング♪みたいな。。。

仕事で言うと、求人出てなかったところにたまたま声をかけたら、ちょうど出たんだよ!とか。
久しぶりに連絡してた友達に、お母さんにもよろしくね~!なんて言ったら、その日はお母さんの誕生日だったり。
尊敬している方に連絡したいなー!って思ったら、辞職の知らせが来たり。

大したことないのかもしれないけれど、、、なんとなくね、不思議だったの。
そして、今日の夕方は滅多に起こらない地震がシンガポールでも。。。

自分の知らないところで、何か感じていたのかなぁ。。。

One things I like Singapore is radio station.
Compare to back home or Colorado, it's more variety of genre in all sort of languages.

My latest favorite station is 99.5.
It's just perfect Bossa nova, acoustic mellow music, for Sunday branch :)

電車の中

私はシンガポールの端っこに住んでいます。
そこから、金融街のあるCityエリアのオフィスにはDoor to Doorで50分くらいかかって通勤しています。

毎日乗るMRTという電車は驚きでいっぱいです。
まずホームに上がるエスカレーターが異常に早い。
一生懸命歩調を合わせないと乗れません。

それから、電車に乗るときは降りる人を降ろさず、
とにかく乗ろうとする人が8割。

乗ってから周りを見渡すと、
大声で携帯で話している人、
音楽を大きな音で聴いている人はあたりまえ。

車内で眉毛を切っている人、
鼻をほじっている人、
濡れた髪のまま乗っている女性、
小指だけいやに長い爪の男性はそばにいるだけで耐えられません!

駅と車内での飲食、ドリアンの持ち込みを禁止するなら、
上記もなんとかしてほしい。。。

多民族だからなんでしょうが、
規制されないとできない、というのはなんだか哀しいですな。

The Notebook

I've just finished reading "The Notebook" written by Nicholas Sparks who also wrote "Message in a Bottle".
I liked the slow pace which gave me enough time to feel tiny details.

I read the book mostly during my time on the train.
Towards the end of the story, I felt difficulty holding some warm drops coming out from my heart.... gosh, it was good story!

The day I got flowers, I opened a book "365 ways to live a simple and spiritual life" randamly and this "Grow flowers" was there in front of me out of 365 pages.
I felt some kinda connection and fate... between my flowers and the poet.

I know I really want have my garden.
I want my trees, plants and flowers...

3rd, September 2009 - another day was started, took shower changed to work cloth, took train to business district...

During my office hours, I got many gifts, flowers, cakes and birthday wishes from all over the world...
Yes, it was my birthday and the day really made me feel special by my dear family and friends.

They took me out on Friday and Saturday to my favorite Thai food, and took me to EQUINOX which locates at 72nd floor of Swissotel, people there also wished me for my special day, on Saturday was surprised party at Italian restaurant which I didn't know anything about. Then it started with some happy surprise which organizer wasn't even planning...

The flowers made me feel very special...
Handmade bird shape card is super creative and adorable...

I am tuely grateful to my friends what they did for me.
I really don't know how to express my appreciation...

Thank you very much for all the wishes for me!

Nagaoka Festival - biggest fireworks festival in Japan

Nagaoka festival is held from 1st to 3rd of Aug.
The famous biggest traditional fireworks would bloom in the air only on the 2nd and 3rd - two nights.

The festival is something we can really proud of our city.
Not a single person wouldn't be surprised by our fireworks.

When you sit by the longest river in Japan to watch the fireworks, you will feel the vibration of the fireworks, you will smell the smoke, you will enjoy the happy people.

When you sit at the mountain, you will enjoy the quietness, you will see the entire fireworks just like in the picture flame, you will enjoy the company you are with.

When you sit on couch at my house, you will enjoy homemade dishes, you will enjoy the easy access, you will enjoy my dad's talk!

I missed it again this year.

Dinner






Someone is curious what I had for dinner :)

Here I cooked some healthy dishes!

Highlight today was the white wine dressing for bean salad, and homemade pickle!

I felt strange when I was eating... some dishes are Japanese, some are western...
On the TV, Indian music and dance (boliwood dance)was lively.
Having housemate from Germany, speaking with him in English...

Really a melting pot...

Rainy Season

It's still rainy season in Niigata.
Here in Singapore isn't rainy season, but humidity is really thiiiiick!

Just for your information, my room humidity gets about over 70% humidity!!!
Sometimes, it gets over 80%!!!!
Craaaazy!
So, here is the picture of my dehumidifier after running 4 hours!
Do you see the water in the tank?
When you touch my skin you will know that the humidity is helping, but heeeey it's still too much!

Singapore Flower Shop

-Chrysanthemum
and Leafs.

That's about all at most of the flower shops!!!
Really limited choice...
I've been trying to be positive to arrange flowers, but no more choices lately...

Now I know about myself bit more...
I am not happy when I don't get to choose, and can't even create another option...
Like for this case, plants flowers could be an option, if I had garden.... but I don't have one nor veranda.

I love flowers in the shop.
I love to see wild flowers along the way.
I hope you also enjoy flowers in your life :)

Singapore Night Festival

I happened to get to know, Singapore Night Festival.
It was happening last night 11/July/2009, in front of National Museum of Singapore.

Three men were on the huge wheel and the wheel spins and the men swing with some poses. Then fireworks spiced up more.

Then, we walked and bumped into late night flea market.
Some booth had their original goods, designer's good which you hardly can find in Singapore.

When we got on taxi, he said "Good morning!"
Arrrh,....it was already 1:30am!

Sunday afternoon

Cooked late lunch, waiting for washing machine to finish, listening radio in my cleaned room.

....Kris Kross "Jump" came on the air; FM 98.00.

They were huge boom, when I first went to U.S. 15yrs ago.
I've heard the song first time at super market in Texas and asked people to find out their CD in the shop.
Since then, it became the song to remind me my young age, studied English crazy, tried so hard to go to university in U.S.

Radio stations in Singapore are not too bad; bit old songs but many stations.
I used to have many music freak around me, but not lately.... let me know cool songs please!!!

Turkish catering

My German housemate had nice bbq/Turkish birthday party for everyone.

Singaporeans enjoyed free food.
French enjoyed seeing me.
Thai enjoyed talking with me.
Germans enjoyed alcohols and singing with my ukulele :)
Anyway, there were many smile!

Truly fun evening on Sunday!
and, my roommate and I are still enjoying left over food today on Monday!!!
It's really good food!!!!

TANABATA-The Star Festival

Princess Oli and Prince Hiko suppose to be able to see each other and have a date only on this July 7th.

In Singapore, the Moon was too bright and I couldn't see them seeing each other.
I hope they were having lovely time at milky way :)

We were invited for private party at Singapore Turf Club today.
We were asked to wear decent cloth and shoes.

It was unfortunated that the weather wasn't great...
But we really enjoyed races and beautiful horses!

I always enjoy learning new things in fun/hands on way!
Learned so much about horses, races, including how to bet!

Beginner's luck was $50. hahaha-!

Melting pot; Singapore = Hot & Humid!

Last Friday at my sweet heart's engagement casual dinner, there were Malaysian, Indonesian, and French.
Last night at my house mate's birthday BBQ + Turkish dish party, there were Thai, French, Singaporean, Malaysian, and German.

I love this international melting pot, but really hard for me to find same interests...
If I were Japan or Colorado, I would meet people who do outdoor activities; hiking, fishing, kayaking, snowboarding, going hot springs, enjoying cultural/musical festival, going day trip to next prefecture/state...
Singapore is very small, so I feel bit trapped sometimes.

Maybe it's time for me to go back to my favorite country; Thailand to refresh myself.
Southern Thailand for diving?
Northern Thailand for hiking?
I really miss it... I should really think about it!

Communication

Calling to Japan, US$0.026/min, to Japanese mobile US$0.177/min, to US$0.024/min!
Distance really doesn't matter!!!!

When you communicate more, world get connected and united.
I really want to keep up my English so that I can still communicated and be there for my friends everywhere in the world.

For me, I need to talk deep to be a friend.
There are so many people I meet and talk in Singapore, but it doesn't mean they are close friends.
I really have to feel their heart in order to open up my heart.
I look friendly, but there are few tricks to get to know me...

Secret Schlumberger Bar: Majo no Houki

is in Nagaoka.
If you recognized the name of the bar, you must know Schlumberger.
I heard the name of the bar first time after some years.

I was visiting one client which was Coca cola related company.
We were talking with this gentle man, CEO of the company in Japanese.
We forgot to ask, but I assume that he is from Australia...anyway, he isn't Japanese, but fluent in Japanease...
He mentioned that he studied in Kyoto, Japan.

When I introduced myself I said I am from Niiaga prefecture.
And he mentioned "Nagaoka" right away, I asked him how come he knows the little city of Nagaoka, then he told me he used to work in Nagaoka... he used to work for Schlumberger.

He worked for SLB for 7yrs as wireline engineer.
Pert of his SLB time was in Nagaoka.
I got him started to speak more as I know SLB people and operation, he proudly told me his record was 100 hours logging alone.
Back that time the fresh graduate's salary was 1,000,000yen! Bubbly era!
When he was talking about the time with SLB, his voice and face got younger.
I can just feel that he leaped back to the time...

I thought it is really interesting that he was in Nagaoka when I was little.
He was there and it was his glorious, shinning time.
I was also there in the same space same time.

Life is really interesting.
Passing by, crossing...

Today, we started 3rd quarter.
I still hear some rumors of more restructuring....

ドラマ

海外に住んでいると、DVDを見る機会が増えるような気がするなー。
特に、日本のドラマを見ている人は多いなぁ。

私が好きなのは、日本のドラマよりも海外ドラマ。
特にお気に入りは "Friends" "Sex and the city" "Ally Macbeal" "Brothers and sisters"。
どれも、女の子を取り巻く人間模様がおもな感じなんだけれど、
とにかく短くて、1話ごとに大笑いできるポイントがあるところが好き。

日本のドラマは時代背景や、流行りがベースにあって、
長々と常に展開するのがちょっと疲れる。。。
今、職場の人から借りているのが、"アラフォー"
やっぱり、ガハハー!と笑えるところもないし、なんとなくしっくりこない。

なにかお勧めドラマがあれば教えてねー!

Lesson

Went to Ukulele lesson today :)
I am learning few songs and at the same time he teaches me little techniques.
When you can play arpeggio, you don't really have to sing!
That's all I want!
I am horrible singer...
Anyway, music is fun!

What makes me feel good

I really feel good in the morning and evening, when I commute to work.
I go through among trees, flowers, birds, insects, and sky.
It really makes me feel good when I don't have to walk between buildings and people.

This is one thing I realised about myself since I moved here.

I really should have home where isn't the city....
Anybody got any idea what I can do when I am not in the city???
I am open for your idea!

My sweet Thai friend took me to Steve McCurry photo exhibition at Asian Civilisations Museum!

His flame work and color contrast are absolutely amazing.
The Afghanistan girl was on the cover page of National geographic.


In Singapore, most of the exhibit allows you to take pictures.
Really funny taking picture of pictures.
Oh, well... I am showing my appreciation to the picture by sharing my feeling here.

Tadpole Mystery in Nagaoka!!!

On 18th, around 2pm, they got tadpole falling in Nagaoka, it was even in Minamicho!!!!
I wonder what’s going on with Eco-system…it’s really going crazy.

It has been happened in some other places earlier.

Exhibition at National Museum; Christian Lacroix's





I went to exhibition at National Museum of Singapore last weekend.
They were having Christian Lacroix's costumes and sketches.

He is French and no wonder France became the fashion leads.
His work was amaaaaaazing!!!
The way he drew, makes it's dresses, the shape and curves.
Fantastic!!!! Really beautiful work!!!

Just looking at the costume would tell everything about the character to belong.
I am so jealous to whom were chose to wear all the dresses!

I really love fabrics and clothes.
I think it's because of my grand mothers and my mom's influence.
I love to dress nice :)

To me, design has to be concluded by logic and sense of balance.
He does great work for sure!!!

Great Singapore Sale!




It's time for all of you to visit Singapore!
They are having this annual "Great Singapore Sale".

I would say, 90% of shops in Singapore are having sale in same way.
And they sometimes do 50-70% off!

Me? I got this T-shirts 50% off at Singapore national museum :)
I can't eat the king of fruit; Dorian so I would at least admire by wearing it!

hahaha.
